Hot n Cold

April 20th, 2011 § 3 Comments

The other day one of our new friends said it would probably be hard for Dom to adjust to the winters in Wyoming when he is from such a constantly hot, humid environment.

I laughed.

I told him how Dom loves the cold, and I would be the one with trouble adjusting to the winters here.

Today we were moving boxes from the delivery truck outside, and working in the stores at the lodge that don’t have the heat on yet. I was shivering in my layers of shirts, coat and gloves and it took hours to finally warm up.

Dom was totally fine in his shirt and light jacket, bewildered at how my hands still felt like ice cubes.

He is what Thais call kee ron, which is a phrase that means his body hates the hot weather.

I am kee now, which means my body hates the cold weather. Now I sort of know what Dom felt like for 28 years in Bangkok with a body that hated Thailand weather.

But at least I have a warm husband to warm me up.

Notice Doms short-sleeve shirt and my warm coat.
